An Optimal Healing Environment (OHE) is where your social, psychological, spiritual, physical, and behavioral components of health care are oriented to support and stimulate your innate healing capacities and the achievement of wholeness.
Wow! That’s some statement isn’t it? Many healthcare professionals go into their field of work for vocational reasons; we like to treat and take care of patients, we apply reason and best practice to serve our patients but we understand that sometimes the optimal environment is unavailable due to socio-economic factors.
Our goal then is to provide the best possible therapy within the space available to us.
OHE surrounds you with the elements that facilitate your innate healing; they work together to support and stimulate health.
Internal/ inner thoughts. Fostered by beliefs that you expect healing and that feeling well can occur. There is hope and understanding and increased self-awareness. Spirituality/faith/religion may play a role here.
Interpersonal; healing relationships and/or healing organizations. This refers to collaboration with your doctors, family, and wider community.
Behavioral/lifestyle; healthy lifestyle choices are directed by you and should be supported by your doctors, family and community. These are the main drivers of good health and empower you to take the best care of yourself. You know all these; healthy diet, movement, quality sleep, relaxation etc!
External factors; not often in our control but we can expose ourselves to natural light, use outdoor recreation spaces, listen to music, use color and create mood in our living spaces.
At Cranford Acupuncture, our office is designed to optimize your healing when you’re on the treatment table. You have the room to yourself; the tables are warm and comfortable; soft music encourages relaxation. It’s my mission that you feel at ease, safe and welcomed. You will get an explanation of your treatment plan and what to expect as time goes on. My aim is always to greet you on time, without stress and with a smile! I believe that healing is more than just an improvement in physical wellbeing and now you know it’s much more than that!
